XT600 Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 I mean to call the Arthotel in Budapest a 4* is really a "challenge", location is in Buda and no public transportation around. Not a good option for Budapest!
Travelling Posted October 5, 2008 Author Report Posted October 5, 2008 I mean to call the Arthotel in Budapest a 4* is really a "challenge", location is in Buda and no public transportation around. Not a good option for Budapest!I think the location is good. I have stayed in 3 different parts of Budapest and, while they each have their own advantages, I don't think the location of the Art'otel is bad. It's a short walk across the Chain Bridge to Pest and a short walk from the hotel are tram and metro stops.Having said that, my preferred location is to stay in Pest but I would be more than happy bidding on Priceline in the knowledge that the Art'otel in Buda may come up (as it did for this stay).
XT600 Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 @travelleing: fine if you liked the hotel and its location. I travel to Budapest for more than 10years. And as you agree: Pest is the prefered place to stayInteresting that Artotel and Park Plaza join the Priceline game. Actually I don't like that chain: the are under the marketing brand of Raddission hotels but only for selling the rooms and the customer program. No other connection. I recently stayed in Dresden at a ParkPlaza which was at the lowest price level (ca. $75 excl. BF) but never a 4*. Acc. to US Standards it would be a 2*. They made our room even we had the "do not disturbe" sign at the door. In Germany you need to tell to the reception girls and boys if you don't like them to make your room, the sign is not enough....
