I was like , what the heck, I pre-paid.... king w/ smoking... my wife is 6 months pregnant and I have asthma. Brutal.... So they gave me a living/dining room area and put some make shift beds in..... and offered me 200 in credit.... I used it in room service, a late evening snack and breakfast... 197 taxes/tip included..... it didnt buy much.... 16 dollars for nachos and onion dip.....9 dollars for coffee..... total rip off.... I want to complain to the hyatt franchise for poor service...
thereuare Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 I want to complain to the hyatt franchise for poor service... :) Respectfully, I have to disagree...When you placed your bid on priceline you agreed that you can't pick the room type and that smoking/non-smoking (as well as bed type) is a request and may not be able to be honored. If there were no non-smoking rooms available at check-in, what should the hotel have done?? :)The hotel would have been within their right to only offer you the king/smoking room, but it appears they bent over backwards making up a living room into a hotel room to accomodate you and gave you a $200 credit... what do you think would have been fair compensation? maxspeedz Posted November 28, 2007 Author Report Posted November 28, 2007 Book me in a room with a bed!.... 200 credit was worthless really.... when I book with priceline, all I need is a comfortable non-smoking bed... Yeah, I prepaid for the room.... doesnt really matter at what price.... If they didnt want to sell the room at a discount, thats fine..... But the beds we got were so uncomfortable... Worst stay Ive ever had.... Doubletree Hilton at Mahwah , NJ for 50 dollars was so much better than the hyatt the next night.... Also I could hear couples on both sides of our living quarters.... If you think having a customer having asthma staying in a smoking room is ok, im sorry but that would be insane....I always been treated with respect when booking thru priceline.... I demand as much, I am there customer as well as pricelines....
thereuare Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 Book me in a room with a bed! They did... a room with a King bed, but you had other issues which caused that room to not be suitable for your needs. While the Hyatt didn't have to do anything, they did go out of their way to accomodate you.when I book with priceline, all I need is a comfortable non-smoking bed...But you are aware that priceline doesn't guarantee a non-smoking room, and if you have special needs, then maybe priceline isn't the best way for you to book a room. When you booked you chose to accept the risk of not being able to get a non-smoking room in exchange for the deep discounts that are usually atainable thru the opaque providers... most of the time these requests are able to be honored, but sometimes they are not. If a non-smoking room was available at the time of your check-in, i'm sure it woudl have been easier for the hotel to honor your request than to go make up a 'parlor room' for you. Unfortunately the risk didn't work out in your favor this time, but to blame the Hyatt for having poor customer service as a result i don't think is fair to the hotel (or its employees). maxspeedz Posted November 28, 2007 Author Report Posted November 28, 2007 I have booked about 40 nights with priceline in the last 2 years, this is the first time a hotel was not able to meet my needs..... They could of offered me an upgrade with charge..... customer service is how the customer is satisfied... not the other way around....
thereuare Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 I have booked about 40 nights with priceline in the last 2 years, this is the first time a hotel was not able to meet my needs...Right, usually requests can be, and are, honored... but sometimes they can't be (or aren't). It appears your success rate in getting your requests granted are currently better than 95% success rate, which i would say is very good, but realize that even with a 95% success rate it means that you will fail 5% of the time (as you did in this instance). The hotel operated within their contract with priceline and their contract with you... you were the one who was expecting more than what was agreed to.We'll just have to agree to disagree.
