Chrissier Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 I've been here all night reading, thanks for all the great advice. I am taking my soon to be 6 yr old son to NYC for his birthday. We would like to stay in Midtown...I'm not sure how he will do with walking more than 9 blocks at a time. I found the Fitzpatrick Grand Central for $369. a night. Is this good, or is there something better you can recommend. I'd like to stay under $400.00 a night. (I'd also like to find a nice single guy who can cook and has a decent job...but thats another post at another time.) We'll be coming into the city 11/30 and leaving 12/3. He wants to go ice skating, go to the FAO.. toy Store. We live at the beach in NC, so he's never seen more than a 10 story building...deprived..I know.Anyway, thanks for all the great advice I've gotten already!Chris & Harrison
thereuare Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 The Fitzpatrick is a very nice hotel with a central location and $369/nite seems like a pretty good deal for these dates (i'm assuming this is thru Quickbook?)Given that this is cancellable, i would lock it in now (please use our Quickbook link) and then you can try to beat it thru priceline, if you choose to go that route. Don't be afraid of the subways (just hold your son's hand) as it is the best way to get all around the city.Once you lock in the above let us know if you want to try bidding and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.PS- not known for their food, but your son may also enjoy Mars2112 if you're looking for something to do Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Chrissier Posted November 14, 2007 Author Report Posted November 14, 2007 thanks, for all the help! I booked the Fitzpatrick hotel from your Quikbook link. I really appreciate the info about Mars2112. Harrison is a space-nut and will love this place!!!!!I am interested in bidding for a lower hotel rate...but need to read up on the process.thanks again!Chris
thereuare Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 These are tough (read: expensive) nites in NYC, but if you let us know which zones you're willing to bid (MTE, MTW, UM/CPS??... MTS too?) and your maximum bid we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Chrissier Posted November 27, 2007 Author Report Posted November 27, 2007 We are coming to NYC this weekend...prime time I know, and hotels are VERY expensive!!! Using Priceline I bid $185.00 on a 4 Star in Upper Midtown, no luck. Then I added a 3 star and won the Hudson Hotel on 356 West 58 Street for $185.00 per night. Not bad considering Priceline has the hotel for $559.00 a night. From what I read the rooms are very small, but the location is good, so I'm happy!thanks for all the help!Chris
