phlrnnr Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 I've tried up to $85 and was rejected for 4* River North for 11/30 - 12/2. In the past I've seen $75 win for this location. Does anybody have any advice?
thereuare Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates are date specific, so you can't necessarily apply somebody elses winning bid to your own stay. The Bear could be playing in town this weekend, there can be a convention, or any other number of events driving up hotel demand. What is your maximum bid for this stay? What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional methods? (use our BetterChecker.com to assist in your rate search). Is the NMA-River North zone the only one you're willing to accept? Is the Loop area also acceptable?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. phlrnnr Posted November 20, 2007 Author Report Posted November 20, 2007 We'd like to get 2 rooms, preferably under $100 each. We'd prefer NMA/River North, but could go for Grant Park/Loop as well. We'd also prefer 4*, but could also go with a 3* if necessary.Hotwire shows a 4* in the NMA area for $202.Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 Hotwire shows a 4* in the NMA area for $202.At this price you're not likely going to have success with priceline at less than half. What is your maximum bid for this stay? What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional methods?HOTWIRE is an opaque booking channel, just like priceline, what is the best rate thru convnetional booking channels? (ie- where the name of the hotel is shown before your purchase)What is your order of priority(s)... price, zone, star rating? (ie- should we be trying to get a 4* in either zone first or trying to get any hotel in the NMA zone first... or is price the most important factor) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
phlrnnr Posted November 21, 2007 Author Report Posted November 21, 2007 It looks like about the cheapest 4* in river north is about $219 (Sheraton). Order of priority is price first. Then, zone (4* or 3* in River North first, Grant Park/loop second). Finally, star rating - I really don't want something less than 3* if possible.
thereuare Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 At the 3* level you have no re-bid zones available so there's not too much you can do.I would try bidding as follows:Select 3* NMA...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* Loop...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* NMA and Loop...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. phlrnnr Posted November 22, 2007 Author Report Posted November 22, 2007 I ended up trying $95 in NMA and Grand Park for both 3* and 4*, and it was still rejected. I'll have to re-evaluate how high I can go. There must be something big going on that weekend, because all the hotels seem to have particularly high prices that weekend.
AaronJB Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 I believe there's a convention on this particular weekend.
