artful Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 I had earlier bid on 4* hotels in downtown Nashville, but my bids up to $99 were not accepted. I checked the list in Better Bidding for the 3* hotels in Nashville, and they all seemed to be good hotels with great locations. (My husband and I will be going to a concert at the Municipal Auditorium Theatre that weekend, and I wanted something that we can potentially walk to.) The hotels listed (Holiday Inn, Sheraton, Doubletree, and Union Station) were all over $140, so I started bidding at $60.First bid: $60 for Nashville downtown REJECTED but asked for counter offer to add $17, but I rejected itSecond bid- added Nashville south: $69 ACCEPTEDSubtotal: $138Taxes and Service Fees: $34.42Total Charges: $172.42I'm not especially happy with the hotel- the Millennium Maxwell House Nashville. It was not in the Priceline list on Better Bidding, but was with the Hotwire list. I had previously checked the Hotwire site, and matched a $72 3.5* hotel with the Millennium. After checking reviews, I wasn't impressed with the Millenniuim since many of the reviews were negative. Plus, the location was much further north than downtown. I know that bidding is always risky with Priceline, but this "win" is a big disappointment to me!

artful Posted November 19, 2007 Author Report Posted November 19, 2007 While I obviously wasn't thrilled with the selection of the Millennium, I'm now not as negative as I was when I initially posted it, especially after reading more reviews on it. The hotel does provide a shuttle service, and overall, the reviews were fine. I've had really good results with Priceline in the past, and I have Better Bidding to thank. This site is a wonderful resource, and I appreciate all the posts and the hotel lists for Priceline and Hotwire. Last year, I was able to get 2 downtown Chicago 4* hotels (on different stays) for $100 each (the Palmer House Hilton and the Omni). I just recently registered on Better Bidding, so I never posted my results until now. I'll continue to post because I know the value that it provides to others! And thanks for being so attentive to the site, thereuare!
