help and advice required

it is my birthday in january and i have been going nuts trying to decide where to go

i did want hawaii but the length of journey makes it unreasonable for a week and a bit

i have always wanted to see monument valley - so this is my next great plan

we would fly direct to phoenix and then drive north............

is this a sensible plan? i have checked the weather and although cold there seems to be little precipitation..........i don't mind the cold so this wouldn't put me off

we would book a timeshare week in phoenix but expect to spend a few days near the monument parks

is kayenta the best choice for accommodation?

any advice would be gratefully received

I would do a 'tour' of the Canyon Lands instead of basing myself in Phoenix

In January sunset is early so only short days in which to sight see.
