Priceline Hotel: Compiling list of possible Hotels for Grand Cayman

I'm trying to compile a list of possible 4* hotels in Grand Cayman. Do you think if I use all the major travel websites (Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia), that would be an exhaustive list of all the possibilities? How often is the won hotel not from the list of "non-opaque" hotels.

A good start but by no means exhaustive. As well, each company uses different criteria for their star ratings, so what may be a 3* on Expedia, may be a 4* on Travelocity, and a 3.5* on Orbitz... while priceline doesn't even use a 3.5* in their rating system :)

If you'd like help with this stay please include your dates of travel. If having a good guess as to the property you'll receive before your purchase, HOTWIRE may be a better option as you can, and we can help, often figure out the property being offered before purchase.

I'll be vacationing in GCM on feb 2, 2008 - feb 9, 2008. If it's one of the 4* that they have listed in their retail side of priceline, I'd be OK with that. There's 2 things that I'd like and that is being around the main town and on the water.

Is there anything on HOTWIRE within your price range?

I'm trying to get in for around $200/nt. For hotels are the Hotwire prices indicative of the price in Priceline. In a former life I worked in pricing for an airline. The rates that we gave Priceline and Hotwire were the same. I'm not sure if that holds true for hotels though.

In theory, but HOTWIRE adds a variable mark-up to their properties (ie- their margin), while priceline counts on overbids for their margins. Also, mistakes are sometimes made and at times once can have a hotel cheaper than the other, and zones can often have different boundaries.

Hotwire has a 3 star that's in my price range but there are only two options listed, a 3 and 3.5*.

Then i assume that is not an option since you are seeking a 4* or higher hotel?

While many of the hotels are used by both priceline and HOTWIRE are the same, there are some which are only used by one service, so there is still a chance you could be successful on priceline even though HOTWIRE is not showing any 4* properties.
