RobJ Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Hi,We are looking for 4* MTE/MTW area April 23-25, 2008 for 2 people (1 bed). We are hoping to get in under $150/night.Is this feasible? I have tried to book something at Quikbook as a backup, but no luck under $300.
RobJ Posted November 15, 2007 Author Report Posted November 15, 2007 Staying 2 nights pre-cruise from Bayonne, and flying into EWR. Would love to get Hyatt, Doubletree, or Courtyard. I have bid all the way up to $150/night without success. I realize it's a long way out...do I need to give it more time? We have booked the Hyatt at $339/night as a backup (fully refundable), but that is significantly more than we want to spend! We would like to stay below $150/night.I have put similar request up on the NYC boards. Any suggestions?
thereuare Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. If you ultimately win a hotel in NJ we'll then move the entire thread to that section of the board.NYC gets expensive in the springtime... perhaps rates will come down between now and your stay, but currently hotls are pricing their rates high (due to expected demand). If demand comes in less than expensive hotels may lower the rates they offer to the opaque suppliers. In the meantime, how about the Jersey City Candlewood Suites as a less expensive alternative? Will this work for your needs? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
RobJ Posted November 17, 2007 Author Report Posted November 17, 2007 Candlewood Suites are definitley an option, however I would like to be closer to PATH access so Hyatt and Doubletree appear to be a better bet. How much would you anticipate Candlewood Suites?
thereuare Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 I meant as a cancellable back-up... booked HERE it's $100/nite less than your current back-up. (make sure you book the 'flexible rate' and not the 'advance purchase' rate as the latter is non-refundable) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

I was actually able to get an even better rate since I am retired military. I got a rate of $125/night so I have booked it as a backup and will try to get Hyatt Regency in Jersey City or MTE/MTW in Manhattan through Priceline. Thanks again!
