Checking previous posts I see a range of winning bids from $70 to around $100.Any advice is appreciated. Thanks for the great site!

malley Posted November 12, 2007 Author Report Posted November 12, 2007 I'm trying to stay in the Tampa/Westshore area and I think it's the only zone with a 4* unless you include the beaches. I'm willing to pay basically the $100 a night, but since I had time I wanted to try and maximize the savings. Is it unreasonable to start by bidding $50 or $60? Is there any downside to that? Thanks!
thereuare Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 At the 4* level you have five re-bid zones avaialble. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* TPA-Westshore...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $53, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $58, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* TPA-Westshore and re-bid zone4...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $63, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $68, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* TPA-Westshore and re-bid zone5...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $78, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* TPA-Westshore and re-bid zone4 and re-bid zone5...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $83, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $88.I would start with the above. Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
malley Posted November 13, 2007 Author Report Posted November 13, 2007 Thanks for the strategy. Our plans didn't confirm until this morning, so I had to wait before making my bids. By the time I did, the Hyatt had raised their quote on Priceline from $109 to $129. I called the hotel directly to see what the best price their internal reservations would offer. $139 was offered (even though they listed $129 on their online reservations) and $111.20 with AAA.I decided to start further into the bidding with Priceline and made my first bid at $70 a night for 2 nights. That bid was accepted and the room is booked.Grand Hyatt Westshore in Tampa4 Star11/22 - 11/24$70 per night, plus taxThanks for the strategy! We got the hotel we wanted at a very reasonable rate. (Probably should have started a little lower, but again, very happy with the outcome)Thanks Better Bidding!
