Looking for a 4 star Hotel in Tampa, Florida for 2 nights over the Thanksgiving Holiday (Thurs, Fri nights -- 11/22 and 23)

Right now the Hyatt Westshore is listed at $109. Checking previous posts I see a range of winning bids from $70 to around $100.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks for the great site!

I'm trying to stay in the Tampa/Westshore area and I think it's the only zone with a 4* unless you include the beaches. I'm willing to pay basically the $100 a night, but since I had time I wanted to try and maximize the savings. Is it unreasonable to start by bidding $50 or $60? Is there any downside to that?

Thanks!

Thanks for the strategy.

Our plans didn't confirm until this morning, so I had to wait before making my bids. By the time I did, the Hyatt had raised their quote on Priceline from $109 to $129.

I called the hotel directly to see what the best price their internal reservations would offer. $139 was offered (even though they listed $129 on their online reservations) and $111.20 with AAA.

I decided to start further into the bidding with Priceline and made my first bid at $70 a night for 2 nights.

That bid was accepted and the room is booked.

Grand Hyatt Westshore in Tampa

4 Star

11/22 - 11/24

$70 per night, plus tax

Thanks for the strategy! We got the hotel we wanted at a very reasonable rate.

(Probably should have started a little lower, but again, very happy with the outcome)

Thanks Better Bidding!
