leaffan Posted November 8, 2007 Report Posted November 8, 2007 Hi, I'm looking to book and willing to spend up to $225. Is this realistic?
AaronJB Posted November 8, 2007 Report Posted November 8, 2007 Welcome to Better Bidding :)Board moderator will be along shortly to provide a priceline strategy, but I think that, based upon the rates I'm seeing ($400-500+ for most 4*'s), $225 will possibly fall somewhat short of being realistic for a 4* bid.Are you willing to stay in any other areas of the city or is MTW the only option for this stay?Do you have a refundable back-up hotel?
leaffan Posted November 8, 2007 Author Report Posted November 8, 2007 I am new to priceline and noticed you cannot specify which room type you want (king, queen, 2 doubles). Can someone let me know their experience with this? Is it easy to switch this with the hotel after the reservation has been booked? I'm looking to book in NYC at a 4*
leaffan Posted November 8, 2007 Author Report Posted November 8, 2007 Yes I found a $300 rate at a 4* in times square, but i dont understand why I need a 'refundable backup'?
thereuare Posted November 8, 2007 Report Posted November 8, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!Few questions (and answers):Can someone let me know their experience with this? Is it easy to switch this with the hotel after the reservation has been booked?See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.The idea of a back-up hotel is in case your bids fail up on priceline, making sure that you have something reserved while you continue to try to beat that on priceline (and to make sure your maximum bid is realistic). At which hotel is your back-up for $300?Also, is there a reason you're only bidding the MTW zone? NYC is so compact, and mass transit inexpensive and reasily avaialble, that MTE, MTW, and UM/CPS (and sometimes also MTS) work fine for the average visitor. Including more zones not only increases the number of hotels which can potentially accept your bid, but also gives you more bidding opportunities.Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. leaffan Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 I would like to be in MTW just for the convenience factor since I will only be in New York for less than 2 days and wil be doing most things in this area. The backup hotel is Millenium Broadway, as i found a rate there for $299 for these nights. I am pretty sure this rate is cancellable up until a day before.
thereuare Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 Where are you seeing that rate for the Millennium Broadway... their website is showing $399/nite for these dates (which is more inline with what i would expect these dates to cost... $299 would be a very good deal, imo) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
leaffan Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 I think it is a special rate through Promotion code: ZOO
thereuare Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 The rate isn't supposed to be valid for your dates:This special is valid: * Nov. 11, 18-20 * Dec. 2, 9, 16-26 * Jan. 1-6, 10-13, 17-20 For $100 more per night, stay over these dates: * Nov. 21-24 * Dec. 27-29 Book by Nov. 10but it is coming up for $299 when searched... i'd book it asap (as it is indeed cancellable up until 1 day prior) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
