Luiz Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Hi, everyone! This is my first time bidding, so I would really appreciate your help. I'm going to Miami next year, and I'd like to stay at a 4-star hotel in that area.I saw a lucky member getting a $62 rate per night through Hotwire at Sonesta Coconut Grove, but the only rates I've got there for a 4* was $132. Do you think I can get Sonesta or Hyat Coral Gables for that amount or arround that? I'd like to pay no more than U$110. Wich 4*hotels do you know Priceline offers in that area in these days? Can anyone help me to build a tatic? Stay dates: 7/22 - 7/26.Thanks, LuizPS: Sorry, if I've made any mistakes on my post. This is my first time here.
thereuare Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!I saw a lucky member getting a $62 rate per night through Hotwire at Sonesta Coconut Grove, but the only rates I've got there for a 4* was $132. Do you think I can get Sonesta or Hyat Coral Gables for that amount or arround that? I'd like to pay no more than U$110.Rates are date specific... you can't "make" HOTWIRE show you a lower rate.Wich 4*hotels do you know Priceline offers in that area in these days? All hotels reported in this zone would be found in the Priceline Hotel List. Can anyone help me to build a tatic? Stay dates: 7/22 - 7/26.What are the hotel direct rates for the 4* hotels which have already been reported (as per the list linked above) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Luiz Posted September 26, 2007 Author Report Posted September 26, 2007 Hi, thereuare,"All hotels reported in this zone would be found in the Priceline Hotel List."Sorry about that.. That post says it was written in 2003, so I though it was not up to date... Now, I know it is.Here are the rates for those dates (least expensive rooms):Mayfair Hotel --> U$ 179 (each night)Hyatt Coral Gables --> U$ 159, U$ 159, U$ 159 & U$ 139Westin Colonnade --> U$ 279 (each night)Sonesta Coconut Grove --> U$ 159 (Superior City View) or U$179 (Superior Bayfront view) - each nightAll the rates are excluding taxes. Thanks for you patience and help!
thereuare Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 Assuming you're fine with any 4* hotel in the zone, i would try as follows:At the 4* level you have four re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Coconut Grove...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85.The above may be too low, but given so much time before your stay, i would try the above lowball offers first. If rejected, don't get discouraged, just post back and we'll revise to try again in 24 hours.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. Luiz Posted September 26, 2007 Author Report Posted September 26, 2007 Assuming you're fine with any 4* hotel in the zone, i would try as follows:Is there any chance to get an specific 4*hotel?My preferences would be (in order) 1- Sonesta2 - Westin3 - HyattThanks again!PS: I had to change dates. Now, from 07/23 to 07/26. Hotel direct rates are still the same. Don't think it will change the strategy, right??
thereuare Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 With priceline you can not bid on, or target, a specific property. If you are trying to target a specific property, HOTWIRE is usually a better option. However, all the hotels offered were above your $110 maximum when i searched earlier for your dates (didn't check for your new set of dates) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Luiz Posted November 8, 2007 Author Report Posted November 8, 2007 It is not an awesome, but a $35 saving is always well accepted.Thank you all for the tips I've got here!!!!!!
thereuare Posted November 8, 2007 Report Posted November 8, 2007 Congratulations on your win and thank you for sharing it with the board. Was this on Priceline or Hotwire? I'm assuming priceline since this is posted in the priceline section of the board, in which case i've removed the '4*' designation from the topic title as there is no 4* bidding available in this zone (and classified it as 'Resort' as previously reported). If instead this was on HOTWIRE, please include the amenities shown before your purchase (still viewable by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY STUFF link near the top of their home page) and we'll then more this entire thread to that section of the board.Enjoy your stay.
