steekers Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Hi all,I am completely new to Priceline and would love some guidance on the above.First time in New York and was looking for something close to shopping etc.I'm hoping that as it might be after the Christmas rush it could be a good opportunity to get a good deal?Any advice would be appreciated.
AaronJB Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Welcome to Better Bidding. :)What would be your max budget per night?
thereuare Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 To add to AaronJB's question above... is therea reason you're also not including the UM/CPS zone? It too (as well as MTS for many) are usually fine for the average visitor. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
steekers Posted November 7, 2007 Author Report Posted November 7, 2007 Max budget is approx $350 per night. And there is no reason that i'm excluding UM/CPS zones apart from a friends recommendation that i should look at MTE & MTW particularly. Thanks all
AaronJB Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 There's no need to go that high in NYC in January, as there's even some very nice 4* hotels that have regular rates of around $200-300 for these dates. If you want to go for something special, a few highly-rated 4*'s that I'm seeing for these dates that do not show up as wins on Priceline and Hotwire include: The Bryant Park Hotel ($299, Expedia.com), The Michelangelo ($260, Expedia.com), Club Quarters Rockefeller ($194, Orbitz.com) Sofitel ($289, rarely ever appears as a priceline/hotwire win; rated #3 on tripadvisor.com in NYC hotels) The Carlton ($239, Orbitz.com or Expedia.com) and the popular Casablanca ($329, rated number 1 on tripadvisor.com among NYC hotels) and Library Hotels ($289, Orbitz.com - rated the number 2 hotel in NYC on tripadvisor.com)Hotwire highlights include what is potentially the Millennium Broadway (a 4* in the Times Square zone with the amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business) for $199 - iif this is the MB, regular rate on the hotel website is $249) and the Millennium UK - a 4* in MTE with the amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Tennis. for $179 (regular rate $199.)Thereuare can suggest a Priceline strategy, but I thought I'd throw out a couple of other ideas.
thereuare Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 There are plenty of options available well under your budget for these dates... what exactly is it that is important to you so that we can better help you find a hotel that will meet your goals.I'm not sure what type of 'shopping' you're looking for, as it's literally all over the city ('knock-off' designer goods are in Downtown/Chinatown, boutiquey clothes are in SoHo/Village, and the high end stores of 5th Ave are in UpperMidtown, and then there is a the whole gammit of Macys and other similar stores sprinkled throughout). If you give us a better idea of where you want to go and sights you want to see, as well as what's most important to you (budget, cost, location, hotel quality, value, etc) we'll be in a better position to advise.
