Priceline Hotel: 2* Salem Renaissance Inn Keizer

A very nice stay at the Keizer Renaissance was sullied only by Priceline's policy of "2 people per room, whatever the configuration". I needed one room for two people and needed TWO BEDS ... however, Priceline's standard request for 1 room is for a "1 room King Bed" and then it's up to the hotel to make changes (such as 2 beds vs 1 bed, non-smoking vs smoking).

Keizer Renaissance offered an upgrade to a 2-bed Queen for $10. While that's not a lot of money, it's the whole principle of the thing. I felt like the victim of bait-and-switch.

In their defense, the management here DID do me the courtesy of reversing the $10 upgrade fee and giving me the 2-queen room for the 1-king rate as awarded through Priceline. (This establishment only offers kings and queens, no full size ... I suppose a move from a 1-king to 2-full would be easier to do ... it's NOT been a problem in the past with Hotwire bids.)

Priceline REALLY needs to take a look at this policy (the default of 2 people = 1 bed) for the sake of Good Customer Service.

ps ... my bid was for a 2-star at $50 ... I'd consider this place a 2.5 star, but Priceline doesn't have a category between 2 and 3 as Hotwire does.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

We've moved your post to its own thread... can you please add the amount of your winning bid and the date(s) of your stay as a reply to this thread and we'll add this information to the topic title.

I felt like the victim of bait-and-switch.
I disagree... you knew the terms of your purchase, you agreed to the terms of your purchase, and you agreed to take the chance that you might not be able to get a room with two beds. When the risk didn't go in your favor, it's kind of hard to claim 'bait and swtich'.

On the otherhand, i agree that it would be better if you were able to designate the number of beds in the room (or bid for more than double occupancy)... but when hotels are trying to unload excess inventory at deeply discounted prices, they'd prefer to keep things as simple and easy as possible for themselves. By only offering 'a room' it's much easier for them to manage their inventory and shuffle things around if they need to accomodate higher paying guests (which also makes it easier for them to offer inventory to the opaque suppliers at deeply discounted prices). If you require a room with sepearate sleeping accomodations, HOTWIRE may be your best bet since you can search for triple occupancy (or up to quad occupancy) which would ensure two separate beds (although this could include a rollaway or pullout sofa)

Glad to hear they ultimately were able to accomdoate you.
