hdizzle36 Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Thanks for all your help!I have an option for a 4.5 Star Hotel in the West of Strip area for $189 / night. I was unsuccessful in getting a 5* Priceline room for up to a max. of $150, which leads me to believe this weekend is one of the more expensive weekends in Las Vegas. Is this a good deal? Or should I keep looking? Any idea what hotel it could be? The amenities include: ResortCasinoFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-speed Internet AccessGolf NearbyTennis NearbySpa Services
thereuare Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! What is the purpose and what are you looking for from this trip...Have you been to Vegas before? Are you looking to sightsee and 'casino hop'?Will you be content staying off-strip?Let us know the above and we'll be in a better position to advise whether this is a good deal or to look further. (and maybe have some options for you) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
hdizzle36 Posted October 24, 2007 Author Report Posted October 24, 2007 Thanks for the response. I've been to Vegas many times in the past and have stayed at Treasure Island and Mirage. I'm looking for any of the big name hotels on the strip at a decent price. Any advice would be much appreciated.
thereuare Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 I'm looking for any of the big name hotels on the strip at a decent priceThen this HOTWIRE offer West of the Strip doesn't really meet your criteria. To suggest a bidding strategy we'll need to know if the Westin, which is in Priceline's South Strip zone, but not directly on the strip, is an acceptable property? (this will let us know if it's "safe" to include this zone or not) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
hdizzle36 Posted October 24, 2007 Author Report Posted October 24, 2007 Would West of the Strip include the Hard Rock Hotel? I would prefer to avoid the Westin and stick with some of the more Vegas "originals" (i.e. Treasure Island, MGM, Caesar's, Wynn, Bellagio, Hard Rock, etc. Thanks!
thereuare Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Again, the Hard Rock is located off-strip, so not really sure what it is you're looking for. (as well, it would also be EAST of the strip, not west)Can you please try to clarify what it is you want from this stay, as the strip hotels and those off the strip typically have very different price points, so you need to let us know exactly what your criteria is for us to help you find the best deal, based upon what is most important to you for this trip. hdizzle36 Posted October 25, 2007 Author Report Posted October 25, 2007 Staying off the strip would be OK (i.e. Hard Rock would be fine). Just want the "name brand" of the Casino / Hotel. That's about the only criteria I'm looking for. Pretty flexible on price, but just want to stay in one of the big casinos / hotels. Ideally I have been trying to secure a room at Caesar's, Wynn or Bellagio, but understand they aren't very easy to get for cheap.
thereuare Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 It sounds as if Priceline may not be a good option since you can't choose the 'name brand' of the hotel (only the star quality) and you could receive any hotel in the zone at the star level you have chosen. Have you considered HOTWIRE where you may pay a little more than priceline, but at least you can usually make a very educated guess as to the property you will receive. What about Planet Hollywood? (previously the Aladdin) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
hdizzle36 Posted October 25, 2007 Author Report Posted October 25, 2007 Planet Hollywood is fine by me. I would prefer to step it up a notch if possible, but I am totally fine with that. Ideally, I'd love to stay at the Venetian, Bellagio or Wynn. Do you have any idea what the 4.5 Star place is? (the one that first started this thread?)Thanks!
thereuare Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Isn't the $189/nite HOTWIRE rate over your $150 budget? If you're willing to pay the above thru HOTWIRE, why not just book the Treasure Island HERE for $199/nite... no booking fee, cancellable in case another deal comes along, a 'name' hotel that you want, and directly on the strip. As well, after HOTWIRE adds it's booking fee to the above, you're looking at about $3 more per nite than the hotel above, but you get exactly what you have originally asked for. hdizzle36 Posted October 25, 2007 Author Report Posted October 25, 2007 The only reason I ask is that I've stayed at TI before. I would like to try out a different place. I'm not set on the $150 budget, but that would be an approximate. I can go anywhere up to a maximum of $250. I might just take a gamble on this 4.5 star plus. Unless you have an idea what Hotel it is?
thereuare Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 The 4.5* property has not yet been identified, but the Red Rock Canyon Resort or the JW Marriott seem like logical guesses, and either of those would be our best guess. Please use this HOTWIRE link to begin any purchases you make.Let us know what you decide or if we can be of further help.
