locosmurf
I started bidding for Waikiki Beach Resort only, starting at $120, increasing by $5 until all my bid zones were exhausted. I purposefully exclusded Waikiki Marina and Ihilani areas because I was hoping on getting Sheraton Waikiki. My initial bids were rejected, and so I tried again the next day, starting on $135. My bid was accepted at $150, and I got the hotel I wanted, Sheraton Waikiki for 10/19-10/21. I added 2 nights to extend the stay from 10/17-10/21 for the same price. When I checked in, I nicely asked for an upgrade, and they were able to switch me from the city view on the 8th floor to a mountain view on the 19th floor with no problem. Two days later, I asked to see if I could switch to an ocean view room, and was offered an deluxe ocean view room for an additional $50, which I happily accepted. The rack rate for that room was $650, and I got it for $200+taxes. The Sheraton was a great hotel, with excellent service, newly rennovated rooms, and convenient location. We were welcomed with leis upon check-in, and had great service. Would highly recommend this hotel! I also started with savingsbarn.com, and clicked on the PRICELINE link to bid on this room.
