msujroot Posted October 21, 2007 Report Posted October 21, 2007 I am looking for some help here. My wife and I are traveling to NYC with another family over our spring break to see some broadway shows. We'd like to stay in a nicer hotel (4*), and because of our itinerary, I thought it would be best to stay in the MTW area. Looking for some help as to how to best begin the process...thanks.
thereuare Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! What is your maximum budget for this stay? (per nite, per room, before taxes and fees)I also always recommend bidding more than just one zone in NYC... the city is compact enough, and mass transit cheap and readily avaialble, that just about any midtown location works well for the typical visitor; but it's up to you if you want to include other areas. msujroot Posted October 22, 2007 Author Report Posted October 22, 2007 We'd like to stay for less than $300 per room, per night, before room fees are added in.
thereuare Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 Your budget shouldn't be an issue, but would you like to stick with MTW only or include other midtown areas?I'll add that although not a 4* hotel, a lot of users have been booking/receiving the Sheraton Manhattan for next spring... the reviews are mixed, but i suspect you could be successful around the $100 area, and for that price it's a decent deal... but not really what you describe above since you state you are looking for a "nicer hotel", but it is in the heart of the Theater District and would leave a lot of money left over for tickets :) Just thought i'd mention it since it does appear to be available for your dates.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and (if sticking with a 4* minimum) let us know if there are other zone(s) you'd like to include, or if MTW is the only zone you're willing to accept. msujroot Posted October 22, 2007 Author Report Posted October 22, 2007 Thanks for the info on the Manhattan Sheraton. I think that, given the reviews, we would like to look elsewhere. For now, staying in MTW is preferable, but anywhere in Midtown is ok. We'd like to stick with the 4* hotels for the time being.
thereuare Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 For now, staying in MTW is preferable, but anywhere in Midtown is ok.Does this mean you're willing to include MTE, MTS and UM/MTS... or only bid the MTW zone? msujroot Posted October 23, 2007 Author Report Posted October 23, 2007 For now, I'd like to stick with MTW, MTE, and MTS to start with. If I don't get anywhere from that list, I can expand later on.
thereuare Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTW...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTS...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTS...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE and MTS...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190.The above bids will likley be too low, but with so much time before your stay the above bids are what i would begin with.Any questions feel free to ask.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
