Linda/Ohio Posted October 21, 2007 Report Posted October 21, 2007 I have used Priceline a number of times in the past and have been monitoring rates. I needed 2 rooms for 1 night both before and after a cruise mid-November. I've tried a few times in last week. I figured as we got closer to date--it might be a better chance to accept bids. This is what I got for the 15th. I bid FLL Beach area. Since I had been rejected from low-ball bids this week--starting in the $50s and going as high as $79--I started at $70. The beach area 3 stars are going for about $159-$199 on their own websites. I was rejected at $70. I added Pompano as it has no 3 star hotels and went up to $80 and was accepted at the Yankee Trader.I bid for after the cruise on the 20th. I know the weekend is selling for a little less at the hotel websites. So I start at FLL Beach 3 stars. It comes back and says if I bid $17 more I am in. I add Pompano Beach and bid $10.00 more for $70.00. I got the Bahia Mar Resort. So it looks like we are all set for FLL. My previous bids which were rejected earlier this week were FLL Beach 3 star, added Pompano, added Miramar, added Hollywood. I used these zones as they have no 3 star hotels. All rejected for both dates as high as $79.00. I planned to go to about 1/2 the cost at the hotel site--so I came in a little under my plan.
