ZnoG Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Hi all.Came across the forum by searching for priceline on google. I am planning on visiting New York from the 17/10/07 to 21/10/07. I have read your advice regarding rebidding zones etc but havent managed to land a successful bid (looking for a 4* on MTE or MTW). Started bidding about 5 days ago, and have gone as far as 420$!! My question is, from your experience, is it advisable to wait until next week to see if more rooms become available? I would consider 3* in the same area but obviously at a cheaper rate. (and would rather not split bidding...)Any advice is greatly appreciated.
thereuare Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! Is there a reason you're only bidding MTE and MTW? NYC is compact enough, and mass transit fairly inexpensive and readily available, that i would definatley consider other nearby zones before bidding any higher (ie- including MTS and/or UM/CPS) In my opinion these zones are just as convenient for the typical visitor, and even if considered slightly less convenient, certainly not worth paying $400+ to stay in if other nearby zones can be had for less.As far as waiting, you can see thoughts on this subject in the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ. However, you're less than a week away from this stay and hotels already have a very good idea of their occupancy levels... prices are high because the occupancy levels are likely near a sold-out condition.Let us know regarding if you're willing to add other zones and/or lower to the 3* level... we'll take it from there. ZnoG Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 Thanks for the reply. I am willing to add both the zones suggested. If I cant get anything, then include the 3*. Let me know what you think and what to do. Thanks
thereuare Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 What is your maximum bid for this stay? (we wouldn't want to suggest a strategy that went higher than you were willing to bid) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
ZnoG Posted October 12, 2007 Author Report Posted October 12, 2007 I would say 300$ per night. Not willing to go to 400$ for a 3*!. Thank you.
thereuare Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 ... but your next step is to continue to try for a 4* while including the other two midtown zones, correct? What is your maximum bid for a 4*? (or are you no longer interested in a 4* property and wanted to try for a 3*?)Do you currently have a back-up reservation anyplace? ZnoG Posted October 12, 2007 Author Report Posted October 12, 2007 Ok. Considering only the 4* + the midtown zones, my maximum is $400. If we try only the 3* then the maximum is $300. No back-up...Thank you.
thereuare Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Which would you prefer... a 3* for $300 or a 4* for $400? (ie- is price or star rating more important) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
