Yamil Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Could you guys help me with a strategy for these days? Looking for a 3* or 4* in MT, maybe also DT. When should I start bidding? I was thinking a week before, is it too risky? I'm on a 180 a night maximum budget. Thanx a lot
thereuare Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!Based upon current rates i think your budget is going to be a bit of a stretch, so i wouldn't delay in bidding, as you'll need to start making back-up/alternate plans if your current maximum bid isn't successful. For a further discussion of 'when to bid' see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Let us know when you're ready to bid, and exactly which zone(s) you're willing to accept, and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Yamil Posted September 29, 2007 Author Report Posted September 29, 2007 I think I'll start bidding tonight. I would like to stay somewhere in midtown, athough I don't really know NY, suggestions of nice neighborhoods to stay are also welcome. I was thinking of starting bidding with 4*, cause'you never know when you are going to get lucky, and then lower the star rating. Thanx a lot for the prompt answer thereuare.
thereuare Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Here is a thread which describes each of the PRICELINE NYC ZONES descriptions. My advice would be to start with MTE, MTW, UM/CPS, and MTS... bit up to your maximum. If that is rejected, then considering adding Downtown to the mix and/or consider SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID.Let us know your thoughts regarding the zones and we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Yamil Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 For the Hilton The Barclay 10/12/07-10/14/07 160+taxes and for the Paramount 10/14/07-10/16/07 130+taxes. Quite fair, very satisfied. My suggestion is to bid 1 or two days before arrival, worked for me! Using a strategy does work!!
thereuare Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Congratualtions on your win(s).Please use separate threads to reflect each win so that the details of each can be seen in their respective threads as well as appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.We have used this thread to reflect the win of the Inter-Continental Barclay (it's the Inter-Continental... not the Hilton, correct?), please start a NEW TOPIC to reflect your Parmount win. Also, the price for the Barclay differed in your topic title than in the body of this post ($160 vs. $165) can you confirm which is correct. Thanks, enjoy your stay(s). Yamil Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 Hi, yes I actually I meant the Intercontinental The Barclay, and the bid came up to US$ 165. The other thing that also worked for me was to split the stay in two friday-sunday and sunday-tuesday, rates from sundays are definately lower.Best regards
