leandeka Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Quick question: I just booked a hotel on priceline and they were consistently rejecting my bids - so I went up in $10 increments. I ended up getting the room for OVER what is listed on other travel websites. Additionally, I said that I wanted a FOUR star hotel and the hotel that I was given is actually listed on most travel websites as a 3 or 3.5 star hotel. Is there any chance I can get out of this purchase? Any assistance would be appreciated!
thereuare Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 The star rating system is subjective, so i don't think you'll have any luck disputing on that ground. Unfortunately Priceline bases most of the star ratings on the amenities that the hotel provides and not necessarily the class of service. One 'out' is if you look at Priceline's star rating system and, for example, it states that 4* hotels offer a room service and this hotel doesn't have that, then i think you be able to make some headway. As far as paying too much, Priceline does offer a 'Low Price Guarantee' but it does not include the taxes and fees. So if your bid amount was greater than what other websites are showing the same room, then you should email Priceline thru their website (go to HELP near the top right, then in the text box/drop down menu on the right select HOTELS and type in GUARANTEE... there you'll find all the details and who to email). If you haven't done so already, please post your winning bid so that others can benefit from the information as well (we also may be able to help further once we know the hotel and area involved, but please post in the appropriate state category).Let us know if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
