Mirra Posted October 9, 2007 Author Report Posted October 9, 2007 Please follow-up your previous Priceline New York City with whatever you ended up doing for that stay... then bump this thread and we'll have a look at the above.I had to cancel that stay from my previous priceline thread.

Mirra Posted October 10, 2007 Author Report Posted October 10, 2007 Nobody will know to look here to see that you cancelled your previously trip... please follow-up that thread, then bump this thread and we'll look at the above.Done that. :)
thereuare Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 The Hudson Hotel is currently rated 3.5* on HOTWIRE... it was previously at one point rated 3*, and it is also a 3* on Priceline, but currently is 3.5* and has the amenities described above so that would be our best guess for that property. The Central Park area hotel has not yet been identified, but i'll comment that this is not really a prefered area of NYC for the typical visitor. It's not that centrally located, and if the hotel you receive is on the the East Side it can be a pain to get to anything you want to do on the west side, and vice versa. Please use this HOTWIRE link to begin any purchases you make.Does teh Hudson Hotel work for your plans? If not, have you considered SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID? What is your maximum budget per nite? Mirra Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 Thanks for your opinion. I don't want to stay in the Hudson because it seems that the rooms are very very small and we don't want that. The best area will be Times Square or MTW/MTC.I am willing to split my stay if it is necessary. My maximum budget I want to spend is around 170$ a night. But it better has to be a 4* Hotel for that money.I also saw that the UN Plaza Millenium is often very "cheap" for around 150$ a night. But I am not sure if it is still in walking distance to times square and other locations in central Manhatten.
thereuare Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Depending upon how quickly/slowly you walk, the Millennium UN is about a 20 minute walk to Times Square or a 10 minute walk to Grand Central and then 5 minutes (or less) on the 7 Train or Shuttle (<-- "shuttle" is the name of the 'S' train... not a bus)... or you could walk to 42nd St (2 blocks from the hotel) and take the M42 or M104 to Times Square. However, i would venture a guess that you will NOT be spending as much time in Times Square as you think, and i certainly wouldn't center an 8 day vacation around being close to Times Square. For more info on our thoughts on this subject see the Hotels Near Times Square thread.Let us know if you're interested in going with HOTWIRE (for presumably the Millenium UN) or if you'd prefer to try bidding for a hotel on priceline. If proceeding with Priceline, are you looking for a 4* hotel up to $170 or a 3* hotel for less than that? Mirra Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 Thanks for your post. The UN Plaza Millenium might be a bid too far in the east and at the moment there are no real alternatives on Hotwire. So I am willing to try priceline in finding a good 4* Hotel for a maximum price of 170$ a night. My exact travel dates have changed a bid. I am staying from 12/17 - 12/27 for a 10 day trip.Thanks.
thereuare Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Which Priceline zones are you willing to bid? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Mirra Posted October 15, 2007 Author Report Posted October 15, 2007 I will bid on MTW and MTE on priceline. But I just saw a 3 Star MTE on HOTWIRE from 12/20 - 12/27 with the following amenities:Fitness, Business Center, Restaurant, High-speed Internet Access and a tripadvisor rating of 3,5.Will that be the Roosevelt Hotel?
thereuare Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Are you still seeing this property on HOTWIRE? If so, what is the price?I'm currently seeing a 3* hotel in the MTE zone but it's rated 2.5* by TripAdvisor and is priced at $209/nite (over your stated budget)Is there a reason you're avoiding the UM/CPS zone? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Mirra Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 You are right, it isn't available at the moment from 20-27 but from 20-26 for just 119$. BUT there aren't any tripadvisor ratings visible at the moment...Is that just me or has hotwire delete that kind of information from their pages? So it is possible to get the Radisson Lexington as well since you can't have a look at the tripadvisor rating. That would be a hell of a gamble.
thereuare Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Tripadvisor ratings aren't shown for all properties. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Mirra Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 Yesterday I was able to see the ratings for all Hotwire offers and now they are all gone.Is it possible that they will come back? Because this will make identifikation much more difficult.
thereuare Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 Maybe you're seeing different hotels now... ones for which the user review ratings aren't shown. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Mirra Posted October 17, 2007 Author Report Posted October 17, 2007 No, I don't see the ratings for any hotel listed on Hotwire. They just cancelled that feature.Or do you see any tripadvisor ratings on Hotwire anymore?
