Priceline Hotel: Boston hotel for 11/2 - 11/4/07

Hi BB-ers,

I am trying to get a 3* or 4* hotel for Nov 2- Nov 4 in Boston. A hotel in the Copley region would be fantastic, but I am willing to stay elsewhere as long as it is on public transportation. I won't have a car so I am hesitant to bid in regions where there are identified hotels that are NOT on public transportation. For the past month or so, I have several times bidding for 3* and 4* stars using the various BB tricks (adding regions without 3 or 4*s in various combos). Despite the many permutations possible, each time I have failed up to $200 for a 3* in Copley or Downtown-Charlestown.

Through the (small) conference I will attending, I have a backup reservation for $200 at the Cambridge Marriott. However, this hotel is a 40 min subway ride from the conference and $200 a night will completely wipe out my year's travel budget even before I pay for travel. (I'm a lowly academic on a very modest budget.)

In principle, I'd be willing to go below 3* in the Copley region but I've stayed in the dreadful Hotel Buckminster (mice in room, feces in toilet, blood stained face cloth under bed etc.) in the Copley areat and I am afraid it might be a participating hotel these days.

Any suggestions?

Without knowing the location of your conference, will any of the following work for your needs:

Hawthorne Suites for $132/nite (believed to be this hotel, available thru HOTWIRE... one review i found said "the 77 bus down Massachusetts Ave to Harvard Square, and the 79 to Alewife "T" Station right outside the doors")

Marriott Quincy for $150/nite

Doubletree Club Bayside for $185/nite
