odrisca3 Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 Hi thereMy boyfriend and I plan to spend 2 nights in New york on 10/12 and 10/13 2007. I have never used priceline before, can anyone suggest a strategy for me? We are on a tight budget and dont want to spend more than $120 per night in total.Thank you in advance,A
AaronJB Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 Unfortunately, I think $120 is not going to be enough for NYC on these dates. Board moderator thereuare will come along and confirm whether or not that is likely the case, but when I'm seeing 3* and 4*'s on Hotwire.com for $300-400+, $120 for a 3* or 4*, a $120 win for 3*, 4* or even less seems impossible. The only time that $120 is more of a possibility would be the Jan-March time frame. We could be happy to suggest some places outside the city during these days for $120, but you would have to possibly make a pretty decent trip back-and-forth each day, which may not be something you'd be interested in doing. If there is any way that you could reschedule for Jan-March, there's a possibility you could get a 4* (or a 3*) in Midtown Manhattan for $120 whereas $120 or less right now would get you something along the lines of a decent 3* near Newark for these dates.
thereuare Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!I agree with AaronJB that $120 will not likely be enough for these dates... what is the minimum star rating you're willing to accept? Which zone(s) are you considering bidding? What is your gameplan of you aren't successful at $120?Is staying outside the city an option? Busy Bee Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 I was able to secure a New Jersey Hotel for $125 bid for Oct 13 07 - Oct 14 07. I was trying for NYC and my bid went all the way up to $220 at one point and it did not work for zones (SOHO, MTE, MTW, MTS) and tried for 1 week consecutively. So I conceded and went for New Jersey. See link: 3* New Jersey SeacaucusThe drive is going to be about 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on traffic to NYC.
