Unfortunately neither of the two hotels have yet been identified (the 2* may be the Howard Johnson but that's just a guess). However, here are some additional thoughts/comments and how i would be playing this...

The 3* is obviously a much better deal than the 2*, and i would feel reasonably comfortable purchasing that one given the 4/5 Tripadvisor rating.

If you're still a little learly, here is another way to play it:

Search HOTWIRE for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance of your stay, and see if the property above appears on both searches (confirm not just with the amenities, but also with the Tripadvisor rating and number of reviews). If what appears to be the same property appears on both searches, you can then purchase the first (or last) nite of your stay as a chance to "look behind the curtain"... if you're happy with the results then go ahead and purchase the remaining nites of your stay, if you're not happy then make alternate plans for the balance of your stay.
