I have never use priceline or hotwire before. My husband and I are wanting to stay in New York September 22 and 23. We want to stay close to things, but not a scary area. We would like something fairly nice, but not too expensive maybe around $130 is that possible? Please help!!!! Melissa

All of this is very subjective, you'll need to let us know which zone(s) are you acceptable to you as well as the minimum star rating you're willing to accept. Some are happy with 2* hotels, others are disappointed with 4* properties... we don't know what type of hotel class you typically stay in.

Here are some threads to get you started:

NYC ZONE DESCRIPTIONS

HOTWIRE does have hotels at the 3* level that are just slightly above your stated budget.

Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

HOTWIRE has a 3* in the Times Square area for $155 for your dates. A bit over your average, but you'd be in a very good location. I'm guessing the HOTWIRE listing is likely the Paramount. There's also a Midtown East 3* (Roosevelt Hotel, maybe?) for $154.
