Lancaster Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 :) We bid $35 for this hotel and stayed there this past Friday night. (April 9th) We got there before noon and our room was already ready. We had called ahead and got requested 2 double beds. We parked in the parking lot and parking was even included (that was a pleasant suprise!). The room was nice. The view wasn't great we were on the second floor overlooking the hotel entrance roof and facing the parking garage of the casino being constructed across the street. The weather on friday was cool but Sunny. :o If one likes Indian or Pakistani food may I recommend a place called A Passage to India. It has a daily lunch buffet that was fantastic. It was his first day and we were his first customers and I don't know if the food wil continue to be so tasty and beautifully presented. It was about $9.00 Cnd. and it is located on corner of Stanley and Robinson. :) Also note to all americans who like doughntuts...and/or coffee Go to Tim Hortons. It is a Canadian Icon and there is none better! We did see some in Buffalo so I think they are heading south.
Travelling Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Thanks for the update Lancaster. I hope we can swing free parking too!It seems that we may be able to pay an upgrade fee for a room with a better view if there are any available. I am in two minds but will probably stick with what we get since I don't expect to be spending much time in the room anyway. Thanks for the dining tips too. I'll certainly note them down and bear them in mind for when we go.
Lancaster Posted April 16, 2004 Author Report Posted April 16, 2004 We asked about upgrading but they said they were all full. Looking at the outside and how it sits I don't think they have that many rooms with a view...We were suprised about the parking...because when I was sitting in the lobby I overheard them telling someone that they would just add the parking cost to the bill.Another Hotel tip...we stopped at the Grey Line tour offices on the American side and the man there said they get a fax everyday from various hotels with room specials...he said they would beat Pricelines but I don't know if he agreed after I told him what we were paying...but the sheet did have some very attractive prices on it for some nice hotels..don't know if they were US or Canadian Dollars but prices were in the $40 dollars plus range.Darrel
