Originally, I wanted a 3.0 Star hotel in the

Universal Studios - Sea World zone.

Even though, historically, you could get these hotels

at a good discount, I didn't have much luck.

I suspect the area is populated with a few conferences

during this time.

This was getting outside of the amount I wanted to

spend (including taxes). Therefore, I decided to try

the 2.5 star hotels.

The Orlando Metropolitan Resort

I'm somewhat worried. The reviews on this "resort" are

pretty bad. It sounds like the newer tower rooms are truly

2.5 stars. However, the older 'motel' wing isn't worthy

of the 2.5 star rating.

I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best.

I'm wondering if there is any way that I can ask for a room in the

newer tower section.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Thank you for sharing your winning bid with the board.

As far as a room in the prefered tower, i would ask for it at check-in and/or call ahead of time to see if you are confirmed in the lesser tower or not (or is it just assigned at check-in... not sure if the prefered tower is considered an upgrade at this property or not). You can ask on the phone to have your preference for the tower noted. If you're not happy with the room given, return to the front desk and politely state your concerns and see if a better room is available. Lastly, if it's worth it to you, see this thread on Hotel Tipping... a few posts into the thread it discusses tipping the front desk staff for any potential upgrades.

Enjoy your stay.
