mbz Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 Hello,I am new to this and would love some help finding a good deal on a 3* or better in NYC for Nov. 30-Dec. 3. I am travelling with two friends. We do not have a preference as to location in Manhattan. We would prefer not to pay more than $200 per night. Could someone please advise me how I begin my research etc.?Thank you
thereuare Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! How many rooms are you seeking for the three of you? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mbz Posted September 14, 2007 Author Report Posted September 14, 2007 Thanks for replying. We are looking for just one room, two of us can share a bed or whatever.
thereuare Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Thanks for replying. We are looking for just one room, two of us can share a bed or whatever. That's the point... two of you can share one bed, but there are three of you. Priceline only guarantees double occupancy and you could easily get a room with only one bed and no room for a rollaway. Is this acceptable to you? (or whoever will be the one spending $200 and sleeping on the floor) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mbz Posted September 17, 2007 Author Report Posted September 17, 2007 No, it would be best if we had two beds or one bed and a rollaway. I guess Priceline is not for us. Thanks anyway.
mbz Posted September 30, 2007 Author Report Posted September 30, 2007 Hello, I posted this before and then decided to look for hotels elsewhere because Priceline only guarantees double occupancy. However, prices are very high for that time period and I can't find much for under $400 per night. I would like some help finding a room in NYC 11/30-12/03. No preference for location really. Thank you.
thereuare Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 What is your maximum budget? (per nite before fees and taxes)Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3* or are you looking for the least expensive 3* or better hotel anywhere in the city? mbz Posted October 1, 2007 Author Report Posted October 1, 2007 Max of $300 per night, least expensive 3* or better, anywhere in the city but for the financial district. Thanks.
thereuare Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 We'll suggest a strategy for whatever you'd like, but you do realize there are a LOT of hotels at the 3* level in the zones you're bidding with notoriously small rooms... which only have one bed and aren't large enough to accomodate a rollaway? Please confirm that you're willing to accept this risk and we'll suggest a strategy for your to follow. Is staying in Jersey City (NJ) and taking the PATH train into the city an option? mbz Posted October 1, 2007 Author Report Posted October 1, 2007 Yes,we are willing to accept this risk. Jersey is not an option. We would be willing to spend a bit more if we could get a 4* that may have a larger room, I would say $350-400 per night. Thanks.
thereuare Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 There are even 4* hotel rooms which are too small to accomodate a rollaway.Although Downtown, The Embassy Suites appears to be available for your dates on HOTWIRE for about $365/nite, which should be able to accomodate the three of you.Is this an option or you want to take your chances? mbz Posted September 8, 2009 Author Report Posted September 8, 2009 We ended up staying at Beekman Towers for this time for about $400 a nigh, we booked directly with the hotel.
