Hotwire Hotel: Retail Rates of Hotels on Hotwire

I was looking for a hotel in NY in December. A four * in Mid-town East came up at $345 and when I clicked on it, it said the retail rate was $562.33 for a savings of $217.33. This price when you put the Hotwire price and the savings added up to what Expedia is offering for the Grand Hyatt in MTE. But the amenities say it has a pool which the Grand Hyatt doesn't so it makes me think it's the Millennium UN Plaza because of the pool although the rates don't add up to what Expedia is offering the Millennium....it matches perfectly to the Grand Hyatt.

I hope this makes sense but I am wondering if anyone know what rates Hotwire uses when they say Retail Rate. Is it Expedia or the hotel's website?

Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

The retail rate suggested by HOTWIRE is not an accurate way to determine the ID of the hotel...

HOTWIRE's stance is that this is the retail value of a hotel in this zone at the same star rating of the hotel offered... not specifically of the hotel you'd receive.

What are the dates of your stay and the full amenities of the hotel you're being offered?

My dates of travel are 12/13 - 12/16. The amenities listed are Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, High Speed Internet, Business Center and Tennis Nearby. I thought it was The Grand Hyatt until I saw the pool. Now I think it's the Millennium UN which I'm not sure about staying at. It get really mixed reviews.

The above is a match for the Millenium UN and that would be our best guess. One of our users just returned from their stay at this property and wrote their comments here.

If you do move forward with this one please use this HOTWIRE link to begin your purchases.

If you're looking for an alternative around the same price, you may also want to consider the Doubletree Metropolitan for $375/nite. There is no booking fee so it's just about the same price as the property above (~$15 more per nite after including HOTWIRE's fee) and is cancellable up until 2 weeks before your stay. Reviews are pretty good too.
