Trip was from April 6 - 11.

The hotel had all the trappings of a good solid slightly older 5* hotel. Everything was clean and orderly in my room with a real king sized bed (nice for London). The bathroom was clean and had quaint (don't read broken-down though) bathroom fixtures but everything worked fine. A little more character than the traditional international chain rooms. Had double windows that actually opened for fresh air and an AC that blew fairly cool air (we only used for an hour). Windows kept sound out quite well and the drapes actually close to exclude light for the morning we slept in.

The staff were quite polite (w/o going over board) and the doorman actually opens the door when you are coming and going. My other recent London stays were at less starred establishments, Meridien Russell Sq (room dreadful) and staff were nothing special but ok...Radisson Grafton (nice rooms and decor but small) and the staff were efficient but doorman just chatted with other staff.

Can't comment on food/dining as all we had was midnight snack room service. Cheese and crackers were very good and Chocolate Gateau of the Day was a cheesecake (I thought gateau was cake) but I loved it so didn't call down.

Location is nice for daytime as it is right off Oxford about 5 minutes from Marble Arch Tube. Evenings on Oxford are a little quiet but then again it's a quick hop in a taxi to West End theatres.

Cheers.
