4* Chicago (NMA-River North) Entered bid of $140 for 10/11-10/14/07. Rejected.

Added Boutique Chicago (NMA-River North) Increased bid to $150 for same dates. Rejected.

I've read the other posts, but none focused on these dates - how high will I likely need to go?

This is my first trip to Chicago, and I'd rather not spend all my money on the hotel. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Howdy! :)

Welcome to the board :)

You certainly couldn't have picked a better time for your first trip to Chicago, as it's really nice here in mid-Oct.

Unfortunately, it looks like either there's a convention in town or a lot of other people also wanted to come to enjoy the Fall colors (or both.) Regular rates are definitely up there for these dates, and Hotwire doesn't have much aside from what appears to be the Indigo for $205.

Are you willing to accept the Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park area? Would you consider bidding for 3* River North/NMA?

Thank you so much for the nice welcome. :)

If I add the Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park area - what hotels would Priceline likely place me at? I'd rather not drop down to a 3*, but I may have to ultimately do that.

Some of the Loop 4* possibilities include the W City Center (which you will either love or hate - having stayed there I can see how people could feel strongly either way), the Hyatt (huge, impersonal convention hotel), Palmer House (Grand Old World, small rooms, some remodeling going on), the Swiss (modern business hotel, views), the Hilton (not particularly centrally located - although not far from the museums - but very nice - somewhat similar to the Palmer) or the Hard Rock. There are a couple of other possibilties, but the above are the most frequently seen.

The 3* hotels aren't too bad a bunch and there are a few nicer ones in the NMA area (the Embassy Suites properties, the Marriott, the Radisson.) There are also a couple of average/so-so ones in the area, as well (the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza, the City Center and the Allerton, although the Allerton couldn't be better located.)

The 3* hotels in the Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park area (the Club Quarters and the Allegro) aren't too bad, but they are not very well located.

It's too bad what appears to be the Indigo on Hotwire for these dates isn't cheaper, as that's a really cute little hotel.

Hi,

I have bid for NMA and the Loop area on priceline and thrown in midway for free rebids on 4* and boutique. I have bid 4* up to 150, boutique up to 130 and 3* up to 100. Thus far no luck. It is a bit disappointing to see successful bids for September weekends of 90 or less.
