ibuyaz Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Been bidding for San Francisco. Want to be in either Fisherman Wharf, USW, or USE 3*. I Am up to 110.00 and getting a little discouraged. Travelling 9/12-9/15 and requesting 3 rooms. Never bid on this many rooms before, anybody know ow this affects my odds? Should I use any other strategies because of this? It would be better if all in one hotel but would I drastically increase my odds at a lower price if I made them each seperately and tried to keep all in one zone? I know that is a little risky. Thanks for the help
thereuare Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!Bidding for multiple rooms is usually not an issue, but if it does have an effect, it's to the downside. If you're searching for 3 rooms but a hotel has only loaded 2 rooms into the system, that property is not able to accept your bid (even if it was high enough to be accepted for the 2 rooms). How high are you willing to go for a 3* property? HOTWIRE has a 3* in the Wharf zone for $169/nite (believed to be the Holiday Inn Fishermans Wharf). If you want everyone to be in the same hotel, rather than bid for fewer rooms, have you thought about SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID?Let us know your thoughts on the options above, as well as your maximum bid, and we'll take it from there. ibuyaz Posted September 10, 2007 Author Report Posted September 10, 2007 My max was around the 110.00 mark. Got the hyatt regency 4* last year at 70.00 and wasn"t expecting such a difference. Read the bid splitting and this may be a good option if my companions are up for it. Using that logic I may be able to get someting nice in Marin County for Wed and Thurs and stay downtown Friday after the business traffic clears up.
thereuare Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Since you've already bid up to your limit please speak to your traveling companions regarding splitting the bid and let us know what you'd like to do... we'll then suggest a strategy to follow.
