murphyslaw Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Hi,I could really do with some help in booking a 4 * hotel in and around $200 per night in new york near madison square garden or the Grand Hyatt near central station. How do i go about starting a bidding strategy .We intend travelling to New york between the 14th Oct 2007 and the 21st Oct 2007. Does this give me enough time to use priceline or hotwire for booking hotel?Any suggestions?
thereuare Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! The Grand Hyatt is in Priceline's MTE zone and Madison Square Garden is in the MTS zone... however, in addition to each of these, i'd also suggest you bid MTW and UM/CPS... all are centrally located and should suit the needs of the average visitor (unless you had some specific reason to be near these two other previously mentioned locations)Let us know if all of the above zones are acceptable or not and we'll advise accordingly. I'll add that this is a very expensive time in NYC and $200 may not be enough for a 4* property. (another reason to add as many zones as possible) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

murphyslaw Posted September 7, 2007 Author Report Posted September 7, 2007 Hi,The reason i'm looking for a hotel near madison square garden is that i have relations staying in a hotel accross from it and as not all of us could get reservations at that hotel we would like to be within easy walking distance of each others hotels. My limit would be $275 per night for a 4*, is that unrealistic? Not sure if the Grand Hyatt is close to Madison square garden ?Thanks
thereuare Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 The Grand Hyatt is not near MSG... it's walkable, but hardly what i'd call convenient, about a 25 minute walk at a 'good' pace.Does this change the zone(s) you're willing to bid?Which hotel are they staying at? murphyslaw Posted September 7, 2007 Author Report Posted September 7, 2007 Hi,I just want to clarify what happens if my starting bid fails,When it comes back to me can I change my criteria, ( hotel rating/area ) or is it just my bid I have to increase?
thereuare Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 If you want to bid again immediately you need to change at least one of the following:-change your check-in or check-out date-lower your star rating-add another zoneWhat about our questions above:Does this change the zone(s) you're willing to bid?Which hotel are they staying at?
