DLama Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 I will be staying in Vegas with a friend from December 22 - December 27. We want a strip hotel. Price range is say $400-$700 for the duration, but we don't intend on spending much time in our room and hope to use the $20 trick for an upgrade anyway.Harrah's is our minimum quality, and the hotel we're currently most considering. Expedia lists it as $505 right now. Yesterday, it was listed as $535.Hotwire has a hotel that meets all the Harrah's signifiers (3.5* in Central Strip, Casino, Pool, High Speed, Spa, Fitness, Restaurant, Golf) for $438. Yesterday, it was $465. So, I guess there are two questions: 1) Would you recommend a different hotel on the strip that isn't substantially more expensive? 2) Does it make sense to wait to purchase or is this drop in price a fluke? Thanks!
thereuare Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 The price differences you're talking about amount to $6/nite, which is fairly insignificant in the scheme of things... nobody will be able to tell you which way the next $5 move will be (up or down).I would only book thru a fully refundable source this far out (or one in which the cancellation fee is acceptable) as prices in Vegas move a LOT and i'd want to take advantage of any future deals which came about during this fairly slow period in Vegas.A better deal than Harrah's above i think is Ballys thru TravelWorm for just $95/nite... i think Ballys is worth the extra $5 over Harrahs. (NOTE: Travelworm has a $25 cancellation fee if cancel outside of 4 days of arrival)Not sure how what you consider "close" in price, but step up in quality and fully cancellable up until a few days before your arrival (thru the links provided) are NYNY for $110/nite and Treasure Island for $119. For the same money as Harrahs you can also consider the Luxor for $89/nite which is a step up in quality, but not as good of a location (imo) as the other central stip hotels mentioned in this thread. If you go with the hotwire offer please use this HOTWIRE link to begin any purchases you make.Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Let us know what you decide or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
DLama Posted September 10, 2007 Author Report Posted September 10, 2007 Thanks for your advice. We'll do Bally's for now and check back as the date gets closer. We will go through your site when possible and post an update if and when that happens.
