antidodge Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Cant provide much info on my bidding strategy or lack thereof. After trying to find something under $70 near the Universal City area, I expanded my search and ended up here. A brief review of the hotel:The hotel itself is located right on the Van Nuys airport, I mean it shares a fence with the airport. Fortunately, the airport serves smaller planes and private jets and hence the noise from the planes was minimal. The neighbourhood is nothing to write about and there's nothing nearby to explore. The hotel is aviation themed and has several miniature planes in the lobby. They charge $9 for parking and I didnt want to drive into the neighbourhood for parking. The good: Decent rooms, reasonably sized with two queen beds, clean and sparkling bathroom. They have room-service which I didnt try, but thought was a nice convenience. The hotel is only a 5-min drive from the freeway (I-405).The bad: No ice-vending machines on each floor; you would have to go down to the first floor. I would have liked a mini-refrigerator and a coffee table with a sofa. The room was big enough to have all these but they didnt have them.
