Priceline Hotel: Looking for 4* 9/27-10/2

I've been using an accelerated version of your "re-bidding strategy" trying for MTE, MTW, or UM/CPS for Sept 27-Oct 2. I started at $220 and increased each successive bid by $10. My last bid of $360 in all 3 zones was not accepted.

I've got a cancellable reservation at the Grand Hyatt for the 5 nights that averages $410/night. I can afford the $410 but want a better deal if I can get it. I only want a 4*.

Any suggestions? Should I try again at a later date? Should I split up the dates (and if so, how)?

This is my first Priceline experience so any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Is MTS an option? Would this zone be preferable before splitting your bid?

I'll also add that there are some very highly rated 3*/3.5* properties that are $50-$100 cheaper per nite than your current back-up reservation (some get better reviews than many of the 4* properties). Personally i wouldn't rule these options out, but you know better than i do what you expect from a hotel stay and what is most important to you.

MTS is a zone I will include next time.

Are you suggesting Hotwire when you mentioned the 3*/3.5* properties or do you know of specific hotels that you'd recommend for back up reservations? I'm not that familiar with NY so I would respect your opinion over whatever hotel bias I currently have.

Thanks again for the help. I will use www.savingsbarn.com from now on.

Some can be used as back-ups, some are non-refundable:

Eastgate Tower Studio Suite for $315/nite (cancellable) comments

Eastgate Tower Junior Suite for $333 (non-refundable)

Affinia Manhattan for $369/nite (non-refundable) comments

Affinia Dumont for $376/nite (non-refundable) comments

All the above are thru Quikbook (please use this link)

Let us know which (if any) of the above may suit your needs and we can suggest a bidding strategy (if still needed) including MTS based upon your thoughts above.
