Thanks for your time. I am a very long time lurker and have appreciated all the help over that time. I always use the savings barn link.

I would like a 2.5* or 3* in the convention center/capitol zone for 10/26/07 to 10/30/07. All of my bids up to $70 have since been rejected.

I would also like a 2.5* or above for Alexandria or Crystal City Zone for 10/24/07. All of my bids for this area up to $60 have been rejected.

For the Convention Center-Capitol Hill stay... is this the only zone you're willing to accept? What is your maximum bid for this stay? When was your last rejected bid?

Star rating is not as important, but I would like to stay in this zone and would love to get the Residence Inn.

All my bids and re-bids were rejected for that zone last night up to $90

I think the problem is that you're combining weekend and midweek rates (when rates nearly double).

Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

No, not an option. I would be willing to raise the bid, though. Perhaps $120 max bid.

The midweek dates at the 2.5* properties in this zone are near $400/nite, so even at $120 you're only at 1/3 of conventional rates for those dates.

Can you add any other zones? If not successful with priceline up to $120, where would you stay (and how much?)

I would be willing to add other zones, except those outside of DC like Arlington, Crystal City and Springfield. If priceline does not work out I don't have a plan yet.

Did you want to try up to $120 first for just the Convention Center zone or did you want to include the other zones as you increase to $120?

What are the zones, by priceline name, that you will accept?

Acceptable zones:

Convention Center (prefer)

Dupont Circle

Georgetown

White House

For all these zones, $80 max bid.

Your maximum bid should factor in where you would be staying, and how much it would cost you, if the opaque providers didn't come thru for you. If you don't yet have a "next best alternative" what are you basing your maximum bid on?

I bid only Fri-Sun (10/26/07 - 10/29/07) and got the 3* Topaz Hotel for $75 per night.

Went to "add a night at the same rate" and it came up as $229 pe night!

Bid for Monday night (10/30/07) in Arlington and Crystal City zones and got 3* Hyatt Alington for $70 per night. This works out fine, because I just have an early flight the next day.

How do I post these so others can see?

FYI - I previously won "Club Quarters" for these dates and was able to get a refund from Priceline because they only have Queen beds and no doubles. I just thought I would ask because the rooms looked like tiny closets on the internet and I have a family of four. Frankly, I was suprised that they did that. I accidently got Club Quarters again, and they refunded me again. The problem with this was that the computer still thought I have 2 reservations for the same itenerary and will not allow me to bid again. They did not know how to fix this since they were not seeing what I was seeing on my screen. I opened another account in Priceline under my business name and got the above bids.

For the win of the Topaz (this thread) we've added to the topic title that this is a 3* hotel and that the hotel is located in the (White House-Downtown) zone... can you confirm that this is correct?
