roboron Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Thanks to your help this summer I got a great price for rooms in August. So happens I have to go back again and will use the same strategy. But since you're so knowledgeable about the NYC area I was wondering if I could get a good starting point (price) for a 4* room in any area except for Upper East or Upper West side for October 5-8?Thanks again!
thereuare Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Expect to pay a LOT more the beiginning of October than you did in August.Do you have a maximum bid in mind?Downtown is acceptable too? amazon_blonde Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 Hi,I am also looking for a 4* in Midtown October 5th through 8th. It's Canadian Thanksgiving that weekend. We're trying to get a cheaper hotel on priceline. I have read a number of threads and think I have the bidding strategy down. But what are the two "free rebids" in NYC?My other question is about backup hotels. Right now our backup is the Courtyard Marriot Midtown East on 3rd. Unfortunately, it's $379 a night for the first two then $329 on the Sunday. But friends and family have stayed there and had really good things to say.Are there any other cheaper 'backups' that you would recommend? And could you kindly direct me to a good reference for public transportation from LGA to midtown? Thanks!
thereuare Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 But what are the two "free rebids" in NYC?Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedA good and less expensive back-up would be the Eastgate Tower thru Quickbook for $339/nite (there are non-refundable rates at this hotel too, so make sure you're booking a refundable rate, the non-refundable rates are clearly marked as such)... gets very good reviews.
