zbls Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I'd like to book two nights on Hotwire or Priceline for downtown Montreal, 9/8-9/10.Ideally the hotel will be romantic (good for a weekend getaway with my girlfriend). A pool would be nice.I'm willing to pay up to $100/night.Any strategy ideas? Thanks!
thereuare Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! Before bidding on priceline... HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel for $75 for this nite. Best guess is that this is the Hyatt Regency (which is a 3* on Priceline, and althtough it doesn't show a pool icon, this property does have a pool). Since you're looking for a hotel with a pool (not sure how this property is in the 'romance' category) would you prefer to take a chance on this property (and hope our guess is correct) or do you want to go with priceline and hope that you receive a hotel with a pool (and is romantic)If you go with the above please use this HOTWIRE link to begin any purchases you make.If you would rather go the Priceline route just let us know and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. zbls Posted September 5, 2007 Author Report Posted September 5, 2007 The Hyatt for $75 would be great. When I enter these dates, though, the 4* result is coming up at $106/night. Is this not what you're seeing?
blindman Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I think the rate has now gone up to $106.I would agree the 4* hotel shown is probably the Hyatt Regency.Good luck!
thereuare Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Indeed, the price has now increased to $101 (in my search, your price may be a bit higher or lower)Given this price is now just about at your budget (slightly over) do you want to try bidding on priceline for a 4* or does the above, and taking an educated guess at the property, cause you to stretch your budget a few dollars?Let us know and we'll advise for whatever route you'd like to take. zbls Posted September 5, 2007 Author Report Posted September 5, 2007 Thanks for the advice on this and other posts in this forum.Based on what I read, I decided to bid on Priceline for a 3* (hoping for the Hyatt) at $70/night. Sure enough, the bid was accepted and I will be staying at the Hyatt. Thanks again.
