nicby810 Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 I am trying to get the James Hotel for September 14 - 16, 2007. I am (sort of) new to Hotwire. I would like to book the James Hotel through Hotwire. I read the amenities you had listed and looked on Hotwire - there was no match. What is the best route - find a new hotel, look again, or ???.Thanks for all your help!!
AaronJB Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 Hotels choose to offer inventory on Hotwire and there may be days or weeks or months when a hotel will not show up on Hotwire, as they have the option as to whether to offer discounted inventory for each day or not. Hotwire offers a set of hotels for a day or set of days, with no more than one hotel per star rating per zone (for example, there is one 4* per day in the Mag Mile/Streeterville area of downtown Chicago). If the James is not showing right now on Hotwire for your dates, then it is not currently available on Hotwire for your dates at all. While it may eventually show up for your dates, the chances are fairly slim and I wouldn't recommend trying to wait to see if it shows up, as prices may rise for hotels in general in the meantime.
AaronJB Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 The 4* in the Mag Mile/Streeterville area that's currently showing for your dates - which has the amenities fitness, business, internet, restaurant - $148 - looks likely to be the Hard Rock. While not the James, the Hard Rock would be sort of in the similar category.
nicby810 Posted September 4, 2007 Author Report Posted September 4, 2007 Thank you for your help. The Hard Rock looks like it could be great or it could be not so great (according to mixed Trip Advisor reviews). The amenities listed look also like the Conrad (maybe) - what is your opinion? I might be willing to risk it for the Hard Rock, but I do not think I would enjoy the Conrad. Thank you again for your help!!
AaronJB Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 On the detail page, I'm seeing the tripadvisor rating for the listing as 3.5/5, which would lead me to believe that it's the Hard Rock and not the Conrad. While I can't guarantee a hundred percent, I'd strongly lean towards it being the HR out of the two. Happy to help, and please use the site's link to HOTWIRE (click the HOTWIRE), as it helps the site.
nicby810 Posted September 5, 2007 Author Report Posted September 5, 2007 It was indeed the Hard Rock. I am keeping my fingers crossed that my husband and I have a good experience :) ! Thanks again for all the help!By the way I did book through this site!
AaronJB Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Thank you for booking through the site's link and reporting your results! :)I'm glad it was in fact the HR, and the Hotwire price is a very nice discount off regular rate for these dates. The hotel's location is also very nice - it's just down the street from both the Chicago Architecture Foundation and Wendella Boat Tour docks (both on the Michigan Ave. bridge.) The Michigan ave. shopping area starts just over the bridge. Millennium Park and the Art Institute are a couple of blocks South of the hotel.Enjoy your stay :)
