HOTWIRE is showing some pretty hefty prices for these dates. Looks like I may have to considers something further out.

Have you searched EasyClickTravel (thsi close to your stay i'd only look for those properties listed as 'available' and would ignore any properties listed as 'on request'), Quickbook, or GTA Hotels... all are often good sources during very high demand periods.

Tried bidding from 9/12 - 9/14 and was accepted for the

Hyatt Regency Washington D.C. On Capitol Hill

I see HOTWIRE with a 3-star hotel in Bethesda/Silver Spring for $84. Looks to be the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

I should probably scoop on that or should I try bidding on Priceline for a three star?

In regards to the nite of the Sept. 11, whether you go with HOTWIRE or try to beat it with priceline depends upon what's important to you. How well does the Crowne Plaza (assuming your ID is correct) work for your plans relative to other hotels/locations in the zone? Would you be 'ok' with another 3* rated hotel in the equivalent priceline zone? (which may have different boundaries than the HOTWIRE zone)
