Serafina Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Hi everybody, I am looking for advice regarding prices for a 4* Hotel in Washington DC for the 12/2 -12/4. I would like to stay in the White House/Downtown area or in Georgetown. I have never used priceline before and so was wondering for this particular time of year and class of hotel what would be a good price to start off at?Thanksserafina

Serafina Posted August 31, 2007 Author Report Posted August 31, 2007 Well I would like to bid a max. of $90-$100
thereuare Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 At the 4* level you have three re-bid zones avaialble. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Downtown...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Georgetown...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Downtown and Georgetown...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. Serafina Posted August 31, 2007 Author Report Posted August 31, 2007 What do people think are the chances of getting a 4* hotel in these areas at this time of year for $100? I see most of the hotels are $300+

Serafina Posted September 14, 2007 Author Report Posted September 14, 2007 Did you try bidding as above yet?Have my offer declined for all three areas (Georgetown/Foggy Bottom), Dupont/Woodley Park and Downtown up to $120. Am I starting to early with the bidding?Should I wait until mid October?
thereuare Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 Am I starting to early with the bidding?See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.I see most of the hotels are $300+So your bids are about 1/3 of conventional rates... not a very high probability bid.Have my offer declined for all three areas (Georgetown/Foggy Bottom), Dupont/Woodley Park and Downtown up to $120.As you've exceeded your previous maximum bid of $100, what is your new maximum bid? Would you sooner increase your maximum bid or lower your star rating? If not successful with priceline, what is your back-up plan (where and how much?) headtrip Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 Yes, you do have time on your side in terms of having many chances to rebid before your travel dates. The important thing is to make a reservation that you can cancel as a backup, then when you have time try to beat the reservation price that you already made. Your bidding so far may be a little low for the areas you are requesting, but I wouldn't go much higher than that and just keep bidding as much as you can as your travel dates get closer. Thereuare is the master of bidding strategy, and you can see he always will try to protect you from overbidding for your hotel.I know sometimes I get lucky and get a low priceline rate quickly, but just as often, it is a waiting game, and it just takes time rebidding week after week until I get the hotel price I want. If you have the time, I'm sure you will be more than happy with your winning bid.
