Hotwire Hotel: 4* NYC (MTW) Hilton Times Square

My wife and I will be flying into LGA just before midnight and are looking for a place

-which will be safe enough to take a cab to at midnight

-somewhat convenient to get to Ellis Island and the Broadway shows which we plan to do on saturday

and also to get to the Train station to catch our train to Atlantic City(from Penn, I think?)

South of $200, we only get two hotels in SoHo. Could you advise on these two:

4* Downtown - SoHo;$196+tax Amenities: Fitness Center,Restaurant,Poo,Business Center, High-speed Internet Access

3* Downtown - SoHo; $148+tax Amenities: Fitness Center,Laundry Facilities, High-speed Internet Access

On priceline, I went upto $141 with MTE, MTW and UW/CPS and got dinged. Do you think I should continue going up on Priceline or just take one of the two from Hotwire? Oh, BTW, we need the room on 8/31

The 4* is a match for the Millennium Hilton while the 3* is a match for the Club Quarters, so those would be our best guess for each.

Although i'll add i'm not sure why you are looking at Downtown-SoHo? (or were these the only ones offered within your budget) Seems to be as the only event on your list is the ferry to Ellis Island, everything else (Broadway, Penn Station, and most other touristy things) are more midtown. If it's price, then you need to make a decision between price vs. convenience.
