I have been going to the CES show in vegas in january for the last few year and the room rates are just getting out of control I got on my own dime so i cant afford the $500 a night rooms for 3 nights.

this year i was thinking about trying priceline to get a room never used it before

my real question is should i try now or wait closer to the event (jan 7th 2008)

thanks for any advice

Welcome to BetterBidding!

See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ. However, i'll add...

Remember the purpose of the opaque suppliers is to help hotels unload excess inventory... hotel rooms they wouldn't otherwise expect to see themselves. During a peak period, when hotel rooms fetch a premium price, there is little reason for hotels to give inventory to the opaque suppliers at a deep discount when they could <likely> sell them themselves at full price.

With that noted, there are certainly properties avaialble for well under $500/nite... what is your minimum star rating and maximum budget (per nite) for this stay? What are the actual dates of your stay? Do you need to be directly on the strip, or is the general area near the convention center sufficient?
