Priceline Hotel: Las Vegas 12/14-12/23 4* or 5*

I am going to LV with my girlfriend on the 14th (Friday) staying that week then checking out the 23rd. From the rates on the hotel websites, this must be the most dead week of the year because they all have super low rates :)

Its 9 nights, I was hoping to keep it under $1000 for the full 9 days, so $110 a night. Is a 5* realistic? I dont mind a 4* but I want to be in a casino on/right at the strip, so dont want the Westin. Would like something ideally Caesars in a 4* or Bellagio/Venetian/Palms. I know not all of those are on priceline but 5* would be venetian I think. 4* I can book Luxor online for $94 a night on their website.

I'm really hoping to get Bellagio/Venetian/Caesars - so I think with PL I'd only be able to get Venetian, right? If I could do much better than $94 I'd test my luck with MGM/NYNY/TI/MB.

Any advice? Thank you and OH BOY is it nice to find a FRIENDLY site like this one after what I experienced on another site for bidding! :)

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Please note that we're affiliate of the Luxor so if you go that route please be sure to use our link to begin your purchase/reservation. In a similar price range, Monte Carlo is available for $92/nite and NYNY is available for $100/nite.

I'm doubtful you'll get a 5* for $110 or less, we can suggest a strategy to try, but i'd be surprised if you were successful at that amount, is that your absolute maximum for a 5* property?

If $110 is your maximum and not successful for a 5*, your 4* bidding options will be very limited since you can't include the Strip South zone in your bidding (where the Westin is located).

Let us know your thoughts regarding the above.

If I go with the Luxor I will use your link, absolutely!

I have been to LAS many times and stayed in most of the hotels. I find the Luxor nice (dont know why most dislike it) and I was hoping the "$20 trick" may get me a pyramid suite. Anyway, even if not, its $94/night. I dont mind paying a bit more for a nicer place - but book rate at Caesars (my 2nd choice) is $1400 total which is $155 a night. Thats $550 more than Luxor and not sure I can justify it for another 4* - but Caesars isnt apparently on PL (they used to be - got em before :) ). Venetian I guess I would justify maybe $300 more than Luxor which would $130 a night - but that would be absoulte top of my range.

I am not getting the feeling that would be successful, based on your post - am I right? That week before XMas really is the most discounted week I've ever seen in LV so I am guessing its a *really* dead week. Maybe I'd get lucky? Its her 1st time in LV so I really want to be in the action areas, so Westin is out.

Is there ways to tell the hotels on Hotwire based on amenities so you can know which hotel it is? I dont *need* to go with PL, just figured I may be able to get a nicer hotel than Luxor for not a ton more money (maybe up to $300 more) for not much extra work :)

Thanks for your help

$130 might be possible, or a little lower, but not likely at $110... we haven't seen wins at that level for quite some time.

It is traditionally one of the slowest times of year... given the gift buying season, many people don't have excess cash to gamble, as well as people not taking vacations since they're busy with other holiday things. The Rodeo is usually in town the first week (or thereabouts) of December and rates are a bit higher during that event, but afterwards rates drop until after Christmas.

You can never be 100% certain as there are no guarantees, but you can use our Hotwire Hotel List to match the amenities, zones, and star ratings. Many hotels in these areas look alike, so you can also feel free to ask for help and/or confirm an ID you think you're seeing.

Given the traditionally slow time, i wouldn't book a non-refundable (priceline or hotwire) property unless it was one of your top choices... i'd sooner book the Luxor, which it appears you'd be happy with and is cancellable... this protects you should rates go up, while also giving you the opportunity to take advantage of any deals that come up at your top choice properties.

Just to bring some closure to the topic :)

I have decided I will book the luxor at the regular rate (through your link). I am going to book probable in the next couple of weeks because I'm just waiting until I get the tickets (for my GF flying into Boston) finalized before I book the Luxur. Then I will just try several times over the coming weeks/months to see if I can get the Venetian for $130 or less. It seems there is too much risk going for a 4* and getting something I dont really want like Aladdin, Westin, etc. It seems I am unable to identify Caesars at Hotwire (can't quite narrow it down to just that one) and CP is a lot more $$ on their standard rate than Luxor and even more than I think I can get Venetian for thru PL.

Thank you for your help!

I'd recommend booking the Luxor now (assuming it's not some special rate which is not cancellable). While this is a slow time in Vegas, rates already reflect the slow period... while you wait rates could go up. By booking now you lock in a rate to protect against any rate increases, while at the same time if the price drops, or another deal comes along (at this or another property), you can simply cancel and re-book.

So booking a refundable rate now can't hurt... but it could help!
