Hi,

I am very new to the bidding travel game but I read a thread early that DarSee has bidded Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach for 158. I would like to stay at the hotel from 9/19-9/24 as well, is it too late to bid right now? What should be the starting bid price? Any expert advice would be great!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

You can't bid for a specific hotel.

Start here: I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire and feel free to ask any questions that you may have.

If you're comfortable with the opaque process then let us know which zone(s) you're willing to accept, your maximum bid, and your minimum star rating... we'll then be able to asist further.

ic... I guess in that case I would like to stay in zone Oahu (Waikiki Beach). I hope the bid is can be close to 158 like DarSee get but I do not want to bid above 170 and minimum star rating is 4*. Thanks!

From the Priceline Hotel List the last report for the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach is that this hotel is Resort category rated (no longer 4*)... do you still want to bid for a 4* or want to try for Resort? I will add, however, that rates at the Outrigger are higher than usual for your dates, so i don't think receiving that prpoerty is a high probability... although i do think you still have a chance at getting a 4* for $170 or less (but if not, i do see other options within that price range, such as the Hawaii Prince thru HOTWIRE)

Let us know your thoughts and/or how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

I think I still prefer beachfront, but Hawaiian Prince is not near beach am I right? Either a 4* or Resort will be good. So with my price range, do you think I have a higher chance to get the beachfront at Hotwire instead of Priceline?

Correct, the Hawaii Prince is not Beachfront.

You can't guarantee a beachfront location with priceline, only with HOTWIRE where a hotel shown the Beachfront icon. However, in this area i would suspect that anything in the Resort class on priceline would be on the beach... but not true with 4* properties.

Feel free to ask any additional questions this raises or let us konw how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

If I want to bid for 4* at Oahu (Waikiki Beach) in Priceline, do you think I can get it at a lower bidding price say around 150 instead of 170? Or do you think 150 for 4# or above is pretty much no chance during this period? What bidding price do you recommend I start with for a 4* and for Resort? Much appreciate for your help.

At the 4* level in Oahu you have five re-bid zones. (NOTE: Ihilani is not one of them) If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Waikiki Beach...

Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $145, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* Waikiki Beach and re-bid zone5...

Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $170.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Do you have any other options within your price range?

As referenced above, i do think you have options in this nearby area, such as the Hawaii Prince which i've stayed at and would have no problem returning to... but it's not Beachfront, although the hotel did run a shuttle to Waikiki Beach (and if you don't mind walking, you could walk to the beach by the Hilton fairly easily... we did it a few times)

Admin wants me to reply to this thread before they can help me with my other bid... ok.

I followed the exact steps in this thread last year but I still can't get the hotel at the price I want. I ended up just book directly from a 3.5* hotel for 150 a night.
