Priceline Hotel: Need suggestion Boston hotel with toddlers

Need suggestion with trip planning before bidding, will travel to Maine Bar harbor from Jersey. I am looking for return trip stop Boston, planning to stay there for one night and go back to Jersey 9/7 -9/8. Need suggestion how many star should I bid and which part hotel is good for short trip (half day) in Boston metro area, we have two toddlers and may be too high end hotel is not appropriate?

I'd start by using an online mapping program (MapQuest, GoogleMaps, etc) and view your driving itinerary... then look at areas/towns to stop at along your route which meet your criteria for proximity to the city.
