afewhours Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 hello, this site is invaluable. thank you for all your tips thus far.i am planning a trip to montreal for two during the week (monday 9/24-thursday 9/27). i tried bidding on a 4-star hotel (downtown) on priceline for $85, but my bid was rejected. after reviewing the forum, it seems that my bid is reasonable--is this true? if i drop to less stars, what would be an appropriate starting bid? i am also a bit weary of the sheraton as reviews on tripadvisor are a bit dismal. i checked out hotwire, too, but it seems that i would have to spend $119/night, and i'm hoping for something less expensive.thank you!
thereuare Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Rates are date specific, and rates for your dates above are a little higher than usual, and therefore it is reasonable to expect a higher than usual bid needed to be accepted. However, if you aren't willing to accept the Sheraton (one of the 4* hotels in this area) then priceline may not be the best answer for this stay. Your next best option would likely be HOTWIRE, but as your current search reveals, rates are a little higher than you'd like to spend. What is your maximum bid for this stay? afewhours Posted August 24, 2007 Author Report Posted August 24, 2007 thank you for the response. ideally, i don't want to spend more than $100/night. i will just keep checking. something is bound to pop up...i hope!
thereuare Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Do you want a strategy to try priceline up to a $100 bid? (or you're looking at $100 'all-in') Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
afewhours Posted August 24, 2007 Author Report Posted August 24, 2007 that would be great! thank you.
thereuare Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 At the 4* level you have four re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Montreal...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $96, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
