Looking for a one night stay in Soho in a 4* hotel. October 20th ...Bidding so far on Priceline...

$185

$195

$215

No luck. I'd like to stay in this range and based upon some of the posts I have seen that seems reasonable. Not sure if that weekend is a busy one (seems like it not sure why). Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding!

For starters, if you look at priceline's Downtown zone (which includes SoHo) it is much larger than just SoHo... are you willing to stay near Battery Park? (the lower tip of Manhattan)

I'm guessing when you're basing your maximum bid from other posts on the board, you're not comparing them to wins for October... which is a very busy time for NYC; it's not apples-to-apples to compare rates for dates other than your own. What is the best rate you're able to find thru traditional channels? (use our BetterChecker to assist in your research)

So far these are the zones I have tried as they appear on the priceline page. BTW....I am not stuck on Soho, as a matter of fact looks like I'll be more towards mid town west on a dinner cruise so I am open there.

Downtown - SoHo - Financial District

Midtown East

Midtown West

Upper Midtown - Central Park South

4* rejected at $230 yesterday

As I mentioned I am open really and don't really have a plan after dinner just walk around or hit a cool spot for a few hours.

I have a backup albeit a weak one at a Hampton Inn South Street Seaport for $350 which now seems like a rip off now.

A better back-up than the Hampton Inn would be the Affinia Manhattan which can be booked for $277/nite thru GTA Hotels (please use this link provided)... the reviews are very good, it's higher rated and less expensive than your current back-up, and the locations is great too. Only thing you need to confirm is that it's cancellable.. their webiste says "most hotels are refundable but the actual terms will be shown during check-out" (so just make sure you see the actual terms of this reservation during check-out).

Once you reserve the above, if you want to continue to try priceline, what is your maximum bid?

I bid 260 and still got denied for the 4 zones listed above...Must have picked a bad weekend. I agree the Hampton has to go still undecided on my next more despite your reccomendation.
