geo Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 I'm a newbie here and wanted to get some help with a trip to Chicago checking in Friday Sept 28th for 3 nights. It's for a 40th birthday so we want something real nice. A friend suggested Sofitel and every rate I see out there is the same $268 avg for the 3 nights. It's a little over the budget but I hear it's very nice. It was also suggested to stay in the North Michigan/Magnificent Mile area. Our stay will involve shopping, sightseeing, aquarium and ending up having a late lunch/early dinner on a bar stool with some cold beers and a pizza with a stop on the way back to the hotel for a nightcap with a band. A nice dinner and lunch will be included as well. A hip hotel like the Sofitel or even the HardRock looks great, not really into the older hotels with small rooms. A pool would be a bonus but is not necessary. Parking would be needed as we are driving from Cleveland. A resteraunt/bar in the hotel is a must. A 4* in the Mag Mile came up as: 4-star hotel in Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville for $209 (was just $203 30 minutes ago) with Fitness, Pool, Resteraunt, Business Center, Internet, Tennis Nearby and a Spa. The Trip Advisor rating is 4.0 out of 5. I think this may be the Swissotel. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the site!
